Energy Transition

Low and decarbonized oil and gas and the expansion of clean energy to achieve net zero

Since its establishment in 1928, the JGC Group has been engaged in the EPC business for a wide range of plants and facilities in the oil and gas sector, including those for LNG extraction, LNG receiving terminals, crude oil and gas accumulation, separation and production, oil refining, gas processing, petrochemical and gas chemical CCS (carbon dioxide storage), and clean energy sectors such as solar and biomass. We have carried out EPC projects for various plants and facilities in all areas of the oil and gas industry, including oil refining, production, gas processing, petrochemical and gas chemical CCS (carbon dioxide storage), and clean energy fields such as solar and biomass. JGC's performance as an engineering contractor in the oil & gas and clean energy fields is recognized as one of the best in the world, based on its broad range of engineering technologies and outstanding project management capabilities.
The world's demand for primary energy is expected to increase in line with population growth and economic development. At the same time, as climate change becomes a major social issue in the world, two things are now required: the use of fossil fuels while curbing greenhouse gases, and the use of technologies that do not produce greenhouse gases. In addition to the lowering of the carbonization of the oil and gas businesses through means such as CCS, blue hydrogen, and fuel ammonia, the JGC Group is working on "energy transition" including clean energy businesses such as offshore wind power, green hydrogen, and SMRs (small-scale reactors).
In the field of oil & gas and clean energy, the Group will not only engage in EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) of plants and facilities, but also in O&M (operation and maintenance) services after the completion of plants, as well as business investment and operation.
