This LNG terminal construction project in Fukushima Prefecture was planned by Japan Petroleum Exploration Co., Ltd., and the JGC Group was awarded a contract for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services in 2015.
In executing the project, we faced a number of challenges, including a short delivery schedule of 40 months and the impact of bad weather. However, with all parties involved in the project working as one to resolve these issues, the project was successfully completed on schedule in 2018 while compiling a record of 1,368,148 hours with no incidents or accidents, making it a highly significant project in the revitalization of Fukushima.
As a leading contractor in the field of LNG plant construction, the JGC Group has a record of participating in a large number of related construction projects around the world. With the growing importance of natural gas as a transition energy source contributing to moves toward a decarbonized society, the demand for LNG terminals is expected to continue to grow, especially in Asia, and the JGC Group will contribute to the stable supply of energy through its LNG terminal EPC business.
