LNG Plant

Client RasGas Company Limited
Location Ras Laffan/Qatar
Completion Train 1: 1999, Train 2: 2000
Scope EPC
Capacity 3,200,000 T/Y x 2

The goal of this project was to build two LNG trains for a state-operated oil company in Qatar (RasGas), as well as to construct LNG tanks and utility facilities. JGC formed a joint venture with KBR of the U.S. and landed this contract in 1996.

The budget and delivery date were tight making it a difficult project, but the first facility was completed in 1999, and the second in 2000. At the same time, the company set a new record of zero accidents over more than 34 million hours in the four years since the start of the project.

It was the first project JGC executed as a leader through an international joint venture. The success of this project laid the groundwork for the numerous projects the company came to execute later as a leader of joint ventures.
