Yokohama, Japan - JGC Holdings Corporation ("JGC HD") today announced that its domestic engineering company, JGC Corporation ("JGC"), has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with UK-based Configuring Ltd. regarding the development of an automated engineering tool.

Configuring is a provider of design automation technologies supporting advanced engineering workflows.

By combining the JGC Group's technologies and accumulated expertise with Configuring's design automation technologies, the two companies will jointly develop an advanced automated engineering tool, the "Configurator."The "Configurator" will leverage JGC's digital design data to enable faster analysis and integration of engineering knowledge. It is expected to go beyond conventional rule-based automation by generating flexible and optimized design solutions.

Within the JGC Group, as project scale and complexity continue to increase, main-taining and strengthening internal technical capabilities, as well as transferring the expertise of experienced engineers, have become critical challenges. Through this collaboration, the Group aims to codify and digitize the expertise of experienced en-gineers into standardized design methodologies.
This initiative will transform such expertise into robust organizational capabilities significantly improve design efficiency, stabilize design quality, and create a design environment that is less dependent on individual experience.




As part of our long-term management vision, "Vision 2040," and the "IT Grand Plan 2030" established in December 2018, we are advancing the digital transformation of our engineering capabilities and knowledge base.
The development of the Configurator is part of this effort. This agreement represents an important step toward enhancing advanced engineering capabilities in a rapidly changing environment.　The Group will first validate the effectiveness of the tool within its domestic life sciences business and subsequently expand its application toward 2030.

This initiative also supports the strengthening of sustainable competitiveness in our comprehensive engineering business under JGC HD's medium-term business plan, "Building a Sustainable Planetary Infrastructure 2030." Through continued collabora-tion, the Group aims to advance innovation in EPC execution and further strengthen its engineering capabilities.
