Signing of Letter of Intent on Cooperation in the Field of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) with the African Development Bank
Yokohama, Japan - JGC Holdings Corporation (Representative Director, Chairman President and Chief Execution Officer (CEO): Masayuki Sato) announces that JGC Corporation (Representative Director, President: Shoji Yamada), and the African Development Bank (AfDB), an international financial institution promoting economic development in the African region, have signed a letter of intent (LOI) on cooperation in the Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) field. Through cooperation with the AfDB, JGC Corporation will promote the decarbonization of aviation fuel and the widespread adoption of SAF on the African continent.
The purpose of the LOI is, together with the AfDB, to utilize the knowledge, technology, and extensive track record of the JGC Group in the SAF field to promote the spread of SAF. The signing ceremony was held at JGC's headquarters in Yokohama, attended by Mr. Shoji Yamada and representatives of the infrastructure, industrialization, and transportation sectors of the AfDB. At the signing ceremony, Mr. Solomon Quaynor of the AfDB stated that "Sustainable Aviation Fuel will be a game-changer for Africa's aviation sector and its climate agenda. By partnering with JGC, the AfDB will help unlock new opportunities for green aviation, reduce carbon emissions, and position Africa at the forefront of the global energy transition."
Mr. Shoji Yamada responded that "We are proud to collaborate with the African Development Bank in advancing Sustainable Aviation Fuel in Africa. By leveraging our experience in plant engineering and sustainable energy, we aim to contribute to Africa's decarbonization efforts while fostering local economic growth and innovation."

Since the 1980s, the JGC Group has accumulated a significant track record of project experience in Africa, providing engineering services including EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) for numerous refineries, among other facilities. In the LNG field, JGC has successfully completed onshore LNG plants in Nigeria and Egypt, as well as an offshore LNG plant in Mozambique. In addition, JGC is currently providing basic design services for the Rovuma LNG Project in Mozambique and is also conducting early work for an offshore LNG plant in Africa.
JGC Group will continue to contribute to the realization of a decarbonized society through aviation fuel, in line with its long-term management vision, "Vision 2040," and its medium-term management plan, "BSP2025," in cooperation with the AfDB.
