Accelerating Initiatives in the Sustainability Sector Overseas
Yokohama, Japan- JGC Holdings Corporation has announced the establishment of "Sustainable Solutions" by overseas EPC operating company JGC Corporation on September 1 this year. As an organization serving the sustainability sector outside of Japan, "Sustainable Solutions" will contribute toward low-carbon and decarbonization.
Establishing future engines of growth is a key strategy in the Group's medium-term business plan, Building a Sustainable Planetary Infrastructure 2025 (BSP 2025). Under these plans, future pillars of business will be established in areas such as energy transition and recycling, with the former involving hydrogen/fuel ammonia and small modular reactors (SMRs) and the latter, chemical recycling and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), among other business.
To date, JGC Holdings has fulfilled a role in incubation for overseas initiatives associated with the sustainability sector, such as hydrogen/fuel ammonia, SMRs, chemical recycling, green chemicals, and SAF, while JGC Corporation has played a role in actual implementation through various divisions. Efforts in areas now at this stage will be integrated into the specialized "Sustainable Solutions" organization to further strengthen and promote low-carbon and decarbonization initiatives.
As a unit dedicated to these goals, "Sustainable Solutions" is charged with investment and other commercial development targeting sustainability-oriented business overseas in areas such as hydrogen/fuel ammonia, SAF, green chemicals, and SMRs while securing and executing EPC projects for related facilities from the stages of feasibility studies and front-end engineering and design.
Sustainable Solutions will have an initial workforce of about 70 employees, with plans to expand this to 100 by the end of fiscal 2023.
