-Supporting the low-carbonization of manufacturing factory-

JGC Holdings Corporation (Representative Director, Chairman and CEO Masayuki Sato) announced today that JGC Corporation (Representative Director and President Farhan Mujib), which operates the overseas engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) business of the JGC Group, and JGC Vietnam as a Vietnam subsidiary of the JGC Group, have jointly been awarded by Terumo Corporation the EPC contract for a large-scale Solar Panel Installation Project for Terumo Vietnam Factory, located in Quang Minh Industrial Park, Hanoi City. The contract will be with Terumo Vietnam Co., Ltd. and the delivery date will be within the fiscal year 2022.

Terumo Corporation commits to achieving carbon neutrality for greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1+2) in its business activities by 2040, and this project is part of its efforts to achieve this goal. The installation of this facility will reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 2,700 tons per year and will cover 14% of the electricity consumption of the company's Vietnam factory, contributing to the stable operation through in-house power generation as well as reducing CO2 emissions of electricity use.

In winning this order, the JGC Group's extensive experiences in solar power generation projects worldwide, including in Vietnam, as well as JGC Vietnam's high project execution capabilities were highly evaluated.

The JGC Group has positioned the Asia-Pacific region as one of its key markets and has established JGC ASIA PACIFIC PTE. LTD. on January 1, 2022.

We at the JGC Group are promoting a regional management structure in this region, where social and industrial infrastructure development and energy transitions are accelerating, to strengthen the execution of " local capability for local delivery" projects.

In order to realize a low-carbon society while meeting the increasing energy demand, in the region where population growth and economic development are expected, we will continue to propose optimal solutions from economic and technical perspectives, including the introduction of renewable energy generation to factories, local renewable energy and energy storage systems, integration with existing facilities, as well as power-sharing between facilities, thereby contributing to solving clients' challenges along with social issues.
