JGC is running a business in Khabarovsk of Russia to produce and sell vegetables, such as cucumbers and tomatoes, grown in greenhouses using a method that requires no soil, known as "solution culture." Consumers in Russia are becoming increasingly aware of safety and quality issues in agricultural products, while the far eastern regions in particular suffer from a lack of greenhouses. This means that it is difficult to buy locally produced agricultural products except in summer.
This project aims to implement Japanese-style agriculture that prioritizes quality, at a facility adapted to the local natural environment. This project will provide agricultural products throughout the year, sought after by consumers, and being a business investment in the far eastern region of Russia, it has attracted great attention from both the Russian and Japanese governments.
