Message from the President & COO of JGC HOLDINGS, Tadashi Ishizuka to New Employees
Creating new business with the spirit of "Shu・Ha・Ri"
The world is currently undergoing a paradigm shift in society and industry at an unprecedented pace, with climate change issues, dispute, energy security, and the advancement of digital technology, and the business environment surrounding the JGC Group is changing dramatically.
In a drastically changing business environment, the JGC Group, whose purpose is "Enhancing planetary health," is taking on the challenge of transforming itself into a corporate group that is involved in a wider range of business areas than ever before, not only in the oil and gas field but also in the sustainability field, where necessity will greatly increase for the world to achieve a sustainable society in the future. And there is no end in sight to our transformation.
I hope that the new employees, as bearers of this baton relay of change, will have the spirit of "Shu・Ha・Ri*" and will first hone their skills and gain a lot of experience. I then expect them to expand their networks both internally and externally, bring back the seeds of innovation in light of the Group's purpose, sharpen their ideas and create new businesses.
* Shu・Ha・Ri :
The stages of training in the Japanese martial arts and tea ceremony. "Shu" is the stage in which the teachings, kata and techniques of the teacher or school are faithfully followed and firmly mastered. "Ha"is the stage in which one considers the teachings of other masters and schools, adopts the best of them and develops one's mind and technique. "Ri"is the stage in which one leaves one school and creates and establishes something new and original.
