JGC Awarded Photovoltaic Power Plant Project in Iwate

Yokohama, Japan - JGC Corporation announced today that it has been awarded a contract for the construction of a photovoltaic power plant from Karumai Nishi Solar, LLC.

The lump-sum turnkey contract covers for the engineering, procurement and construction work (EPC) of a solar photovoltaic power plant with a capacity of 48,000 kW (equivalent to the annual power consumption by about 15,000 households) in Yamauchi, Karumai, Kunohe, Iwate. And project completion is in the middle of 2019.

The development, originally led by RENOVA, Inc., has been taken over by Karumai Nishi Solar, LLC. which plans the establishment of the solar power generation plant on approximately 155 hectares of hilly, wooded land.

JGC has not only undertaken the EPC work for a number of solar power plants but also operated those facilities, providing the company with extensive experiernce and know-how in this field. For this project, JGC will apply its construction capabilities and use its experiences as an operator to fully anticipate and satisfy the needs of the client.

In a world that is increasingly concerned with the effects of global warming, JGC is eager to participate in the further promotion of renewable energy power plants by engaging in the construction and operation of these facilities.
