JGC Awarded Crude Oil Gathering and Processing Facilities Project in Algeria

Yokohama, Japan - JGC Corporation (JGC) announced today that JGC and its fully owned subsidiary, JGC Algeria, have been awarded a contract for the construction of crude oil gathering and processing facilities by Sonatrach, the Algerian state-owned oil and gas company.

Presently, Sonatrach is seeking to develop new oil sources in the north of the Hassi Messaoud district. JGC will be responsible for the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of gathering facilities for crude oil produced from new producing wells in the area and a crude oil processing facility which will separate oil, gas and water, with a capacity of 40,000 bbl/day. The value of the lump-sum turnkey contract is approximately 70 billion yen. The facilities are expected to be completed in 40 months.

Since 1969, when JGC undertook the project for the construction of the Arzew refinery, the company has carried out numerous projects in the country for Sonatrach and for major oil companies. In 2016, JGC was chosen by Sonantrach to undertake the remodeling of an oil production facility in Hassi Messaoud and the expansion of boosting compression facilities in Hassi R‘Mel. Both of these projects are currently being vigorously carried out.

With further investment being eagerly sought for the country‘s development, JGC intends to energetically pursue its sales activities.
