Structural Reform and Personnel Reorganization

Yokohama, Japan –JGC Corporation has announced a structural reform and personnel reorganization to take effect July 1, 2009. An overview of the structural reform is presented below.

1. Enhancement of project execution ability
To keep pace with the changing market conditions surrounding our company, the current No.1 Project Division and a part of No.2 Project Division will be reorganized to form the new "International Project Division" which will handle overseas projects. The present Domestic Project Division together with domestic related departments of No.2 Project Division will become the "Industrial & Domestic Energy Project Division", focusing mainly on domestic projects.

This move will involve merging the current overseas project execution departments of the No.1 and No.2 Project Divisions into the International Project Division to enhance our overseas project handling ability. In addition, the No.2 Project Division's nuclear power and environment-related project execution departments — in which development of overseas operations is an imperative — will also be integrated into the International Project Division.

2. Enhancement of comprehensive technological capabilities
The current Technology & Engineering Division will be dissolved, with its two constituent units, the Research & Development Division, and the Engineering Division becoming independent divisions. The Research & Development Division will concentrate on accelerating development of our own technologies while also introducing technologies from other companies as a way of enhancing JGC's overall technological capabilities.
