LNG Plant (Darwin)

Featured Project

As the operator of the Ichthys LNG Project, the first large-scale LNG project to be undertaken by a Japanese company, INPEX CORPORATION commissioned a joint venture group headed by JGC and including KBR of the U.S. and Chiyoda Corporation of Japan to carry out the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) work on the project’s onshore gas liquefaction plant, which will produce up to 8.9 million tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and 1.6 million tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) per year in addition to 100,000 barrels of condensate per day at peak.

It was decided that the onshore gas liquefaction plant would be constructed and assembled primarily using modules built at module yards and transported onsite. Project execution therefore requires a high level of expertise in managing the construction at module yards, the logistics involved in transporting the modules and the actual construction and assembly at the plant site. As a major LNG contractor, JGC must bring out the full extent of its capabilities and leadership to ensure the success of the project.

With more than half of its LNG destined for Japan, the Ichthys LNG Project will play a key role in ensuring a stable supply of energy to the country. The project also makes significant social and economic contributions to both Japan and Australia. JGC is exerting every effort to ensure a safe and successful completion of the Ichthys LNG Project.
