3D Support for High Quality Engineering

JGC’s high-quality engineering is supported by 3D engineering tools such as 3D CAD including BIM (Building Information Modeling), 3D laser scans that can allow us to accurately grasp the state of an existing plant in real time, panorama views and other technology for reproducing current circumstances. In addition, we offer these services to our clients throughout the plant life cycle.

A 3D laser scan is a real-time reproduction technology using a computer visualization, allowing for more accurate measurement and analysis of existing facilities than drawings. A panorama view uses a 360-degree photographic visualization that can be shifted freely, allowing inspection of the whole surrounding area. After initial measurement of the facility, this technology allows entry-restricted spaces, such as clean rooms or hazard areas, to be reproduced on a personal computer or tablet at a remote location, limiting the need for on-site double-checking and inspections, and thereby improving the efficiency and quality of engineering execution.

JGC’s BIM starts modeling the new facility and digitized the existing facility from the basic engineering stage. Through concentrated management of 3D engineering information, including process facilities such as equipment and piping, architecture, air conditioning, power utilities, etc., information can be shared among clients, engineers, and workers, to realize engineering of improved quality. This model data can be further used in developing the client’s FM (facilities management system) and CMMS (conservation system.)
