Nuclear Energy

Contributing to improvement of nuclear power safety with Advanced Technical Capabilities

Nuclear power plays an important role as a key source of electrical power along with petroleum, natural gas, and coal. In order to make maximum use of nuclear power, it is vital to continuously improve power reactors and establish the nuclear fuel cycle and radioactive waste processing systems. JGC contributes to the nuclear power utilization in Japan through the design and construction of spent nuclear fuel reprocessing plants, radioactive waste treatment facilities, and radioactive waste disposal facilities. We are also contributing to recovery following the accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station. In addition, JGC is vigorously refining its technology by conducting research and development of radioactive waste treatment and disposal technologies at its research laboratory in Oarai, Ibaraki, Japan.

JGC also has been drawing on its advanced project management capabilities and extensive experience with overseas projects to actively participate in nuclear power plant construction projects overseas, as demand for nuclear power is increasing in emerging countries.
