Training system

Training system

"Support those who make an effort to grow on their own." This is a core idea for human resources development at JGC. Human resource development is provided based on Career Development Programs (CDPs) which are individually created for every employee in each department, and includes On the Job Training (OJT), job rotation and in-house lectures, like the JGC Techno College.

Training System for New Recruits The following training programs are provided in order for new recruits to be able to acquire the basic information and general knowledge necessary to be a good member of society and JGC employee, along with the basic skills needed for their work.
・General training: General knowledge necessary for to be a good member of society, and basic information about JGC.
・Technical training: Outline of project implementation method
・Language training: Intensive English class with small groups categorized according to English level
After the above group training, other training programs will be provided at the departments to which new recruits are allocated.
Mentor System In the first three years, senior employees (those who are in their 5th to 10th year) will provide new recruits instruction on basic information, expertise, skills and work processes required in each department.
On Site Training In this program, new recruits in their first year will be deployed to domestic and overseas construction sites for up to 6 months. There, the new recruits will get to understand a diverse range of positions and values, will actively and independently learn about costs, schedule management, the team work needed to ensure a project is successful and how to pursue customer satisfaction, and above all, will get to experience the powerful allure of being a part of a JGC project.
JEEP(JGC Engineering Extension Program) An in-house training course that focuses on learning about and understanding other departments' work, fundamental skills and other knowledge needed to improve basic technical ability and understand a project as a whole. Participants get to learn basic skills from the wide range of fields necessary to lead a project to success.
JGC Techno College (JTC) Since its aim is for employees to educate themselves independently, JTC is targeted mainly at young and mid-level staff. JTC is an in-house college which offers a variety of courses conducted by both senior engineering staff from within the company and eminent instructors from outside. The lectures focus on providing opportunities both for self-development and to learn about techniques and fields which are difficult to experience in daily work.
Other Other education programs include courses on specialized techniques and business skills, financial support for correspondence courses and language schools, job rotation and a system for dispatching staff to overseas companies.
